I didn’t know there’s a Langkawi forum! Good work guys!
I am a 30+ family man from Singapore; lived in Australia/NZ for many years before moving to China for work purposes. I come from a commerce background but really seeking for a laid back life.
I have this thought for months, converting a seaside house (kampong) to a Bed & Breakfast business. I don’t really know it is a variable option and I need some useful advice from business to residency issues.
I am not ambitious; just looking to live well from the business. If there is a potential to grow the business, well, that’s a good problem to have! Is it a good idea to do this? Or is there someone interested to participate? Will appreciate all responses. Cheers!

OK... so far so good... now, my next question...
during all those numerous times that you've visited Langkawi, where have you ever seen a seaside "kampong" house and even you did, do you think it's going to be a viable venture?
(this is after having considered the amount that you have to pay for those "kampong" houses and the amount that you can charge for a Bed & Breakfast... let's say you can make a profit, do you think you can afford to live well from this business?)

well..I do see a niche business in Langkawi. I am not sure if that involves buying a plot of land and develop or take over an existing seaside business on a large scale. Langkawi's Dr M's island and I am sure there will be exciting developments in the future. My intention is to get there before everyone and to live off reasonably, no need well off. That kind of owner-operated business.

Kampong style houses ? suggest you take a look at the Bonton and see if that gives you any ideas.
