Hi Bright,
you can rent a car from the airport ,ferry jetty/ hotel or there are plenty of car/motorcycle rental places roadside - mainly in Pantai Cenang. You didn,t say where you are staying but if you get to Pantai Cenang try Orkid Ria.In Kuah try "wonderland" .If you enjoy pizza try   La Osteria or TJ,s.Barracuda try Sun Cafe !
Beachside try Little Lyla,s near red tomato cafe.
There are plenty of restaurants around- you will be spoilt for choice. If in doubt seek recommendations from other hotel guests.
Enjoy your stay.

Bright,
I guess you can rent a small car for around 60/70 Ringitt along Pantai Cenang road.Try A B opposite
AB motel. You haven,t said where you are staying so it is difficult to say where to hire from! You could hire at the airport. There are four or five agents in the arrival/ baggage hall. Try Gerteknik travel.Ask for Rashdi Ramli and tell him I sent you.You could also check out the prices from the other hirers. You will pay more by hiring from the airport though but if only for a couple of days it wouldn,t cost much extra.
Where to go ? I would recommend you visit Perdana quay,Oriental village - and definitely take a ride up on the cable car there - terrific views.Underwater world is another good attraction - likewise the beaches - probably the most popular being at Pantai Cenang where there is a good selection of cafe/ restaurants catering for all different tastes ( plenty of Chinese food here ! )
Different people have different outlooks so you might wish to go on a mangrove tour/ watch Eagle feeding etc.
Come into Kuah and have your photo taken next to the giant eagle at Eagle square near the jetty and then perhaps a look around Kuah - its a taxfree island.Have a drive around the island- its easy.
Enjoy your stay !

Langkawi  Fair Shopping Mall.If you go just head towards the jetty in town ,and you will see it on the left hand side.If you can,t find it just ask for Billion( Supermarket within the complex).
Nadias Inn is opposite Pantai Cenang beach( good beach with the usual jetski/banana boatride) and close by to plenty of restaurants ( try little Lylas beachcafe if you want to try other than Chinese food - the chilli n rice or spaghetti aren,t bad or the full all day breakfast )shops and car hire places.Hope you find it comfortable !
