suggest you try n book Pelanghi Beach hotel or The Beach Garden resort ( if you want something cheaper - but ok).Just type in as keywords on your computer and search. i.e Beach garden resort Langkawi.
You will be on Pantai Cenang beach/ strip. You will have no problems getting Halal food  in Langkawi - but always check first.

Thank you very much for all your contributions, but after thinking long and hard i have narrowed my hotel choice to two possible ones and was hoping someone can help me make a decision. hse theres not much differenceere is what i think could someone correct me if i'm wrong.

Casa Del Mar (Pantai Cenang) :
Good location so if we get bored theres a lot of of other places we can go around there. i hope that  there are small markets and shops around there.
Hotel is nice and clean.
Beach around there is nice and cleanwith beautifull scenery.
Bit expensive

Mutiara Burau Bay (Pantai Kok)
hotel looks nice and clean
half the price of casa del mar ;D
excellent beautifull location with breath taking scenery
bit secluded so if we get bored theres nothing else there within walking distance bearing in mind that we will be there for 5 days

is it worth paying twice the amount of money to stay in casa del mar?
is there much difference between the standards of the hotels
is it easy enough to get to places from mutiara in a taxi  ?
how much is car hire?

These are the questions buzzing around my head.  if you guys think you can help please let me know so i can make a decision in the next few days.

Thank you Very much fior your time

Thats one extreme to the other.Mutiara is not in the same class and somewhat rundown last time I was there..Casa Del Mar is a fine hotel - but its expensive !Can,t help but think Pelanghi Beach would serve you better - practically next door  !As would the Berjaya on Burau bay.
Pantai Cenang is the busier area though, and has lots of restaurants.
Car hire is cheap 50 - 80 ringitt/day along Cenang beach road.Taxis are reasonably priced but the car hire gives you the opportunity to tour around the island and petrol is only 1.92 RM / ltr !Driving is on the left hand side of the road ( mostly ! ) so should be easy for you ( if you drive that is )
Don,t miss the oriental village and the wonderful views from the cable car.

dear mos man,
if you are planning to stay in Casa del Mar... please take note that Casa del Mar only has 30 rooms available for rental... so book early to avoid disappointment.

Agree with Bob that the Mutiara is definitely  not up to the same standard as Casa del Mar. I would classify it as between a 2 to 3 star and it was in desperate need of refurbishment when we were there. It is set in a lovely location however and there is opportunity to see the wildlife. We stayed there a few years ago and it was the habit of one of the monitor lizards to come and take a dip in the pool. I don't think I have ever swam so fast to get out of the water.. Telaga Harbour which has a few restaurants is within walking distance. Have you considered the Frangipani. We haven't stayed there but we drove around and had a look when we were in Langkawi earlier this year and it looked promising.     It is on Pantai Tengah so there are quite a few eating places around. http://www.frangipanilangkawi.com
