Champor-Champor Restaurant & Bar

Setting: This is the sort of place that visitors to Langkawi would like to find. Brimming with local colour and interesting decorative touches, it also has the benefit of a true Malaysian Character as its proprietor. An evening with Uma Holm could be the most memorable part of anyone’s trip to the island.

Food: Imaginative food is not on the menu of many Langkawi restaurants. Champor-Champor is , as it says, a mix devised long before the concept of fusion food gripped Malaysia. There are one or two creativity-challenged options, such as satay, but in general this is fertile ground for the imagination. All the old favourites are still on the menu, including the timeless East-meets-West appeal of roti canai tortillas filled with melted cheese and olives. Vegetarians might also enjoy the clean wholesome taste of a tofu and broccoli salad, given a slightly wicked edge with peanut-butter sauce. Main courses cover a lot of ground. Try the Bamakoise-style fish for a richer, banana flavour, accompanied by some tasty vegetables. Interesting sauces continue with humble chicken breast, raised to greater heights with a tangy mango sauce. The black-pepper steak has, as always, to be experienced, despite the pedestrian sound of the dish. The only disappointment is to be found with the desserts, which are good without being sufficiently varied. However, the bailey’s parfait is perfect.

Specialies: Black-pepper steak - Bamakoise-style local fish - Grilled roti canai tortillas.

Also not to be missed the Wesuma Body House located within Champor-Champor. It is a spa to detoxify the system. Foot reflex ology, facial and body wrap, with natural herbs and spices. And we also do full body massage.
